Montes

Montes pioneered the concept of a small Chilean winery totally dedicated to premium and super premium wines. These wines are now recognized as some of the best and most prestigious produced in Chile.

Montes was started by four partners: Aurelio Montes, Douglas Murray, Pedro Grand and Alfredo Vidaurre, who firmly believed there was a niche for Chilean premium wines. Full-bodied, of great concentration and purity, these dry wines are true representatives of the top quality Chile can offer. Montes wines are exported to 52 countries worldwide, the USA and Europe being the largest markets.

Winemaker Aurelio Montes pays special attention to the vineyards to assure good acidity and optimum fruit. The vineyards are primarily farmed in an organic manner and yields are kept very low. Grapes are left on the vine as long as possible in order to develop the mature tannins critical to making fine, complex, long-lived wines. Picking is done only by hand and grapes are carefully carted to the winery in small containers. This meticulous care plus strict controls of irrigation and fertilization at Montes give quality over quantity. The resulting wines are poised to challenge the best of the world, as a series of top international awards have testified.
