Bouchaine Vineyards

Bouchaine, a 104 acre, family-owned property, is the oldest continually operated winery in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. Bouchaine wines capture the finesse of Burgundy while embracing their Carneros roots, focusing primarily on exuberant and elegant estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a total annual production of 25,000 cases.

In 1981, Gerret and Tatiana Copeland purchased the original Garetto Winery founded in 1928. Committed to improving the quality of Bouchaine’s vineyards and wines, the Copelands brought Michael Richmond (founder of Acacia Winery) on board as General Manager and Chief Winemaker in 2002. Located just north of the San Pablo and San Francisco Bays, the vineyard is directly influenced by the fog that rolls in each night. The shallow, clay loam soils are perfectly suited to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Bouchaine’s continued dedication to sustainable production, as fostered by the Copelands and Richmond, has earned the winery a Napa Valley Green Certification. All vineyard and winery operations are consistent with the sustainable theme. The winery’s façade is made from recycled redwood from the winery’s original wine tanks.

Gerret and Tatiana Copeland, respectively Chairman and President of Bouchaine Vineyards, reside in Delaware, but they consider Napa Valley their “home away from home” and are closely involved in all winery operations. Supporters of many charitable causes in both their home state and in Napa Valley, the Copelands are long-standing patrons of the arts. Since 2006, the couple and Bouchaine Vineyards have been a major sponsor of Napa’s Festival Del Sole, a week-long international music festival.
